Pennsylvania insurance licensing exam prep

Study for Pennsylvania's 16-03 exam against PID's real blueprint.

Pennsylvania's Life, Accident and Health Insurance exam (Series 16-03) is administered by PSI on behalf of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department (PID). LicensePath's diagnostic maps to Pennsylvania's own content outline, so your practice time goes toward what Pennsylvania's own weighting actually puts first on exam day.

150 scored Qs
  • Life & annuity product knowledge: 45%
  • Health & disability product knowledge: 33%
  • Pennsylvania insurance regulation: 21%

This is PSI's real, fixed weighting from Pennsylvania's official content outline (16-03), the same categories as "Blueprint categories" below.

Blueprint categories

Every question maps to a real category on PID & PSI's content outline.

Pennsylvania's own outline groups content into 13 granular sections rather than Texas's 9, several of them genuinely mixed life-and-health topics. LicensePath's blueprint groups them into two broad product-knowledge categories plus a dedicated state-regulation category, the same coarser structure PSI's own outline supports without inventing sub-percentages it never states.

All 150 scored questions

  1. Life & Annuity Product Knowledge45%
  2. Health & Disability Product Knowledge33%
  3. Pennsylvania Insurance Regulation21%

Percentages are each category's real share of the 150-question exam, per PSI's official Pennsylvania Insurance Examination Content Outline (16-03). Pennsylvania also offers separate single-line Life (16-01, 100 items) and Accident and Health (16-02, 100 items) exams, both covered in our content mapping alongside the combined 16-03 exam.

Why sourcing matters

Built from Pennsylvania statute text and PSI's own materials, not guesses.

Every Pennsylvania question in LicensePath is sourced from Title 40 P.S. (Pennsylvania's Purdon's Statutes), including the Unfair Insurance Practices Act, fetched directly and cross-checked against PSI's own Pennsylvania content outline before it's approved for release. Pennsylvania's outline interleaves state-law citations across several of its 13 sections rather than isolating them into one bucket. Our state-law content is built directly from those citations rather than from the section titles alone.

Curious how state exam blueprints are built, or why every practice question carries a citation? Two short guides cover both: what's actually on your state's insurance exam and why we cite every practice question.
